T1 in second place in the world ranking of professional teams
A weekly update of the world ranking of professional Dota 2 teams has appeared on our website. Last week will be remembered for a small but notable online tournament — ESL One Summer 2021. The results changed the situation in the ranking considerably.
WePlay AniMajor's bronze medalist, team T1, proved that their place was no coincidence. The team from Southeast Asia confidently went through ESL One Summer 2021 and defeated Virtus Pro in the final. This result allowed T1 to get enough points to take second place in the world Dota 2 team rankings.
Virtus Pro is beginning to rehabilitate themselves for their failure at WePlay AniMajor 2021. They beat OG, Alliance, and T1 in the Upper bracket final of ESL One Summer 2021. They only lacked a bit of luck in the grand final. Virtus Pro received many points for second place in the online tournament, pushing Evil Geniuses into 4th place.
One of the biggest changes this week is OG's return to the Top 20. With the departure of Anathan "ana" Pham and the return of Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, OG is finally regaining its former strength. The team reached the semi-finals of the Lower bracket of ESL One Summer 2021, where they lost to Alliance. Due to the high result, OG moved up by 8 lines in the ranking and took 19th place.
That's not all of the changes in the current update. To see the complete list, check out the World Ranking of Professional Dota 2 Teams.
In the next couple of weeks, we don't expect considerable changes in the ranking. All regions will qualify for The International 10. First to compete for slots will be CIS and South America. Their matches will be held from June 23 to 26.
